The Countdown is on. Seven days until the fat man dumps his load of toys. The toys that will litter our stairs, toyroom floor, and van for the next 365 days. The toys that will be fought over, lost, broken, cherished, and played with until my kids outgrow them. Or I give them away. Whichever comes first.
I think I am as ready as I am going to get. I have my "list" of chores to do before we head over the river and through the woods (literally) to go to grandma's house. I am determined to leave (and consequentally come HOME to) a clean home. The bathrooms are done, I am in the middle of cleaning the toyroom (which will probably be destroyed during my piano lessons today), our bedroom and closet has been purged and organized. I still have the floors and the kids' bedrooms to do. And the fridge. And I have to type my program for Saturday's piano recital, organize my sharing time for Sunday, and attend Jillise's piano recital tonight, Childrens' Choir concert tomorrow, and both of the girls have a little dance recital on Friday. The holiday season is definitely not relaxing for mothers. And music people.
On the Jaren front, he has taken steps and is getting SO close to walking. When he feels like it. He has also figured out how to get up on the couch. Heaven help me. He says "This" and "That" as he points to things. He says "Hiiiiiii" to people and "Yummmmmmm" when he likes what he is eating. He cracks me up.
I'm heading back to clean the toyroom. If you don't hear from me in 18 hours, send in the Marines. Tell them to bring chocolate.

Good for you! I'm not going anywhere, so I don't really need a clean house to come back to, but I would sure love to start the New Year off that way.
I love coming home to a clean house. It is always enough unpacking and doing laundry when I get home. Hopefully your travel over the river and through the woods will bring you good weather!
A clean house is a gift in itself. Congrats on gifting that to yourself!! I did some cleaning today too, but I just got in and my house looks like I didn't do anything today. That's what happens when you leave the house to two boys. ;) Love the new post Paige; thanks for hearing my pleas. xoxo
I am assuming you made it out of the toyroom alive and well. I suppose I should call and check on you...just to make sure! I am in cleaning mode, too...making room for all the new toys. Happy cleaning!
I can't believe Christmas is so close! It really snuck up on me this year, I think because I finished shopping and wrapping a couple of weeks ago and then just put it out of my head. But today I realized I am NOT done--I have to shop for the Christmas food we must have on hand and, thanks for the reminder, I really should get my house cleaned up. Also I better make a list of the activities I am hoping we will do while we're all together so as not to forget anything. At least I don't have recitals and the like to complicate things ;)
Good luck!
I enjoy a cleaned up house for about one hour - oh well, maybe for Christmas Santa's elves will make a visit and clean for me:)
ooo, cleaning. That's what I should have been doing today. With Sunday coming tomorrow the idea of doing it all on Christmas Eve is not very appealing to me. We'll see.
And it will be so fun to see Jaren walked soon. Maybe he's saving all his tricks as a Christmas gift for mom & dad.
Oh my goodness Paige you crack me up! The fat man dumping his load of toys .... you're funny. Have a Merry Christmas.
Have so much fun "over the river". and I hope you come home to a clean house, that is the best!
