Weekend CONTEST

This has been a rough week here in our household. Joelle is STILL under the weather - and while the vomiting has ceased, she has a wicked head cold and still has to be bribed/forced to eat. Her last meal consisting of more than a few bites or a plain waffle was Tuesday. Fortunately she is always thirsty, so dehydration hasn't been an issue. But my Nurse Nora patience is about gone. I know that sounds awful, but after cleaning up puke, putting pink eye gel in TWO sets of eyes (Jaren got it, too), being quarantined for five days, wiping copious amounts of gunk out of noses, and being awakened all night by coughing, I am DONE. Ready for smiling, happy faces. I told Joelle that if she can't bring herself to eat a decent meal for breakfast that we would have to bring her to the ER. I don't know what they would really do for her, but how long do you go without a kid eating before taking them in? Her cold DOES seem to be getting better, and she IS drinking... do I just hope that her appetite returns before she loses too much weight?

On to happier things -- my inability to leave the house during the day has left me some more crafty time. Turned out these cuties for my niece:

And I made this:

I love love LOVE these colors. I am drawn to happy, citrusy colors. My kitchen is lime green, you know. Brian asked me who the apron was for and I told him it was for me because I love it and he gave me that, "But you already have so MANY" look and I have to admit he is right -- and I have two more coming in the mail from my swaps. SO...

Since giving is better than receiving, and since I could use a pick me up after this week, I am going to GIVE AWAY this gorgeous, happy, summery apron. Ack! So you had better leave a comment quickly, before I change my mind.

So here's what to do: leave a comment with your favorite way to pamper yourself after a rough week like I have had. On THURSDAY, MAY 29th I will have Joelle draw out a name of those who commented and you win the apron. Sorry, contest open to U.S. residents only -- because I am too cheap to spend $15 to mail it to someone in New Zealand or something. Especially since I don't currently KNOW anyone in New Zealand. Lurkers, feel free to come out of the woodwork.

And when you are done leaving your comment, check out the feast of happy colors on Sandi Henderson's site. Here is a sneak peek at her new line of fabrics coming out soon. I think I am going to have to beg our local quilting store to carry them.

That apron is right up my alley, so I can't resist an attempt to have yet another one of your fabulous aprons!!! Okay, how to pamper myself after a rough week . . . my favorites are a trip to craft warehouse and deseret book with NO kids in tow, followed by a pedicure while reading my favorite scrapbooking mags sipping on an orange dream machine from jamba juice, then a quick stop by Thai Orchid for some Pad Thai take out, then taking the boys to the park for some fun family time, and then ending the evening snuggling up with my hubby watching a feel good chick-flick. Wow, that just sounds heavenly about now!
And, so sorry to hear that Joelle is still under the weather :( I hope she is eating and smiling soon :)

My word, she is STILL sick. That's no fun, for you or her! My little one has had a fever for a day and a half and I'm already going nuts. That doesn't come anywhere close to vomiting, pink eye, and 5 days of it. Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Boy, pamper myself, it's been too long. I pretty much think doing ANYTHING without dragging the kids along with me is pampering. I know, pretty pathetic. There is a lot to be said for some alone time though. :)

I eat something cakey (and usually chocolatey), sing and laugh with a girlfriend, and just get away for a while.

Sorry she's not any better. That is sooooo not fun!

Please remember how to do this because in 10 years when I have kids I definitely want some cute stuff like that! You're awesome.

I wanna win! After a long week like that I am not sure what I would do, but I am sure it would include a pedicure! Go out to lunch with a pedicure and let president watch the sickies!

As always I'm so impressed by you! Also I bought some of that exact fabric yesterday! Sorry Joelle is still suffering- and therefore you too. I think a movie out with no kids and a large popcorn is in order!

Hi and thanks for visiting MY blog! Now its my turn!
After 20 years in retail, I know how some days can be super tough. Here is my favorite way to unwind on those particular days.

1. fill the tub up with EccoBella's lavender vanilla bubble bath (GOTTA HAVE.) Use the hottest water I can stand.
2. pour glass of wine
3. light candles
4. announce to EVERYONE...INCLUDING THE DOGS AND CAT WHO CAN'T STAND TO NOT BE WITH ME...that I am taking my tubby
5. gently yell from behind door to husband asking him to please bring me a bit of either chocolate or applewood smoked cheddar to enjoy with my wine....depends on my mood which one I want. I never know until I get IN the tub...weird, I know.
6. stay in tub until I turn to jello then use sugar scrub all over.
7. towel off, kiss the kids and sweet hubby for giving me time alone, pet the dogs and cat so they feel better too...they always get their feelings hurt.
*The last step differs too...depending on if I need more alone time or not.*
8. sometimes I climb in bed with a good book....and fall asleep with the lights on....then my sweet hubby will come in and turn off the lights. sometimes I stay up and cuddle with sweet hubby and watch late night while he rubs my feet. He doesn't mind rubbing my feet because I take care of them and they are pretty. :-)

My favorite thing after a long week is to curl up in my bed after a long hot shower and read a good book sipping a Pepsi!

To unwind after a rough day, I like to read a fresh magazine on the couch or in a hot tub.

That apron is super cute! It would inspire me to cook even more!

My favorite thing is to put everyone to bed, get a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, curl up on the couch and watch a show that I have recorded.

I love to drink orange juice out of crystal stemware. It has always calmed me down. I also like to turn on my mattress heater (in the winter) and snuggle up under the covers or in the summer I go to Smiths (the only store I can find these at) and buy the most wonderful huge popsicles that come in flavors like cherry/mango. I then go and sit on our porch swing and take my latest magazine and my champagne glass and relax. I also think that chamomile tea cures all stresses. The IPod helps to change my mood in a hurry too. That is such a beautiful apron. Get well soon Joelle!!

I love love love aprons. Well, what I would do if I were you and waht I do after a hard week.... I would send Brian out all day long with the kids, letting me have the house to myself. I would read and eat brownies for part of the day, mope around the house doing NOTHING and then I would treat myself to a haircut. The really good kind where they massage your scalp. And If I was really really lucky, my sister in law would be in town and then I would get a massage. But I'd have to top the day off with some baking (can you say oreo truffles...yum...)and by then I would miss my kids, but just enough to want to give them a kiss before their dad did the whole bedtime thing and then I;d lounge in the bath for awhile.

Come to think of it, I think that I have had a hard week and that may need to happen!

After a long hard day, I would put the kids to bed early and curl up on the couch with a big bowl of ice cream.

Sick SuckS! I found your blog from table to seven. She found me and now I am even more glad that she did because aprons are a love of mine. just because I love them, doesn't mean that I have a lot of them. (2) So-I think that I should win. I have 3 very dramatic girls including one blue eyed 3 year old aka devil child who makes me want to pull my out every day. So-have I convinced you enough yet that i need that darling apron? Did I mention that I am so jealous that you can sew and beautifully at that?
How do I relax?? I go shopping! I love to shop. Love Love lOve! So, while I am shopping, I go to dinner. I am usually with a friends or my mom and sis, so we must always eat. And then, we must always get dessert. that is always relaxing! then, we go and get a pedi! I make sure to stop on the way to the pedi to get me a ftn. diet coke-nothing is more relaxing than sipping a diet coke, while reading a magazine and having someone rub your feet, all the while thiking about the cutest new clothes that you get to hang up in your closet when you get home. So-that is what I do to relax-oh one more thing-I turn off my cell phone. No child or man can call and bug me about stupid things. I know that this is a super long post-but i want that apron super bad!! Hope it's ok if I come back and visit your blog-I enjoyed myself. have a great night. i hope that u get to do something relaxing!
