Babysitting Poll Results

The answers are in! According to my totally unscientific poll which was taken by 27 of you;

3% pay $3/hour
22% pay $4/hour
55% pay $5/hour
3% pay $6/hour
11% pay $7/hour or more
3% answered "other"

And of both of the teens who responded said they got paid "just right." Though if they had to wipe the neon green snot coming out of Jaren's nose right now they would have put YOU COULD NOT PAY ME ENOUGH.

I am so ready for spring. After hearing rumors that the flower bulbs were starting to pop up I went out and inspected my own feeble attempt at a flower bed. Sure enough -- they are peeking through. Unfortunately, every year they try to come up this early they are frozen to death by a deep freeze which always seems to hit in late February or early March. It's a right of passage for the tulips, I guess. Survival of the fittest and all that.

Due to the nuclear goo coming out of Jarens nose he wasn't able to go to nursery yesterday. So we spent the last hour doing laps around the church. I was in short sleeves and it was SO nice to be comfortably chilly. The ground was dry, the birds were singing... Jaren was in heaven. Come on APRIL!! You can't get here too soon for my taste.

I agree! I'm sick of all this weird weather and having to cancel school for silly reasons! I'm ready for spring!

thanks for the poll - it was very interesting to see the results. I'd also be interested to know how many children the pollers have and how/if that relates to baby-sitting wages. You could come up with all sorts of charts & graphs. I'm sure that between the two of you (P&B), someone took Stat 221 at BYU. ;)

Yes, I can't agree with you more -- we need Spring! Although the arrival of spring means that we might have to figure out what we're doing with our yard, and I'm not quite ready for THAT.

It was so much fun keeping tabs on your polls. I am always curious what others pay for babysitting. My only question is what do people pay based on how many kids they have? I'm curious how many kids are in the $5 an hour category!?

See, I told you :) But you're probably right, another freeze might stunt their growth a bit. But it sure made me giddy with anticipation anyways! I'm ready, bring on the vitamin D :)

Oh, and thanks for the poll. I will have to keep that in mind when I hire my first sitter.

I am so hoping we are past snowdays and late starts. Bring on Spring...a dry spring would be nice. That is probably way to much to ask for.
I too appreciated the poll. I am so average. I used to base pay on # of kids. But now I just do a flat hourly rate. I am so excited to have my very own babysitter. It is FABU especially living out in the sticks.

Great poll. It was interesting to see the results. I would be interested to see if # of kiddos affects how much people pay. Hmmmm...something to think about.

I am READY for spring, too. I think it was my recent trip to the mall. ALL the cute spring clothes are out and I am ready to buy them but not quite ready to wear them. It's still a little cold for sandals :(
