Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Or is that two pounds off, one pound on? This week may be a bust for me. I blame the Postum with a little too much Fat Free Irish Creme creamer (not a CALORIE FREE food) and the incredibly yummy chocolate orange cake at Bunco last night. And my period. No matter where in my cycle I am, if something goes wrong I blame my period. But anyway...

Yesterday morning I was up .4 lbs. No biggie. Blame it on water weight. I worked out harder and watched what I ate 95% of the day. Then I went to Bunco and I left my willpower at the door (along with my pride -- I was dressed up head to toe as Daisy Duck). I did pretty well with the treats at each table (just little tastes), but the cake was too yummy to pass up. Today I was up an ENTIRE POUND. So that makes a GAIN of 1.4 lbs in 36 hours. Yikes. It is so hard to not get discouraged, but I knew I would hit a wall at some point. The key is to stay focused and not give up.

I went window shopping on Saturday and am getting real excited to buy cute new clothes in a few months. And I am getting stronger, with more endurance. And it is getting easier to eat well on a daily basis and avoid the eating traps I used to fall into meal after meal. Once in a while temptations like Bunco are going to come up. And that's okay. And I think it's okay to give in. I refuse to be skinny and miserable. I love food. I love to eat. I just need to do it in moderation. And when I go up a pound every once in a while it's okay. Sigh. It isn't FUN, but it's okay.

Don't be too hard on yourself -- you're doing great! I love your mentality, though -- there's no reason to be miserable; just all things in moderation.

Probably not the weight loss fix you're looking for, but . . . . go spend an evening in the ER with your kid and you'll find yourself 3 pounds lighter in the morning. Worked for me!

Paige, you are so awesome...I find inspiration through you! 13 pounds is amazing. And you are right once in a while it has to be ok to have a little treat. It wouldn't be worth it to pass it all up! Keep up the good work!

I think you're doing great too. And, I agree with you, you can't never eat treats again. I always blame my cycle too, nevermind the pound of chocolate I happened to eat:)

I too always blame my period. And I need to lose a few pounds, but my period keeps coming around. Classic.

Oh and remember to weigh yourself naked in the morning each day. That is your true weight and you will probably be able to see results better!

Hang in there, my friend. You are looking and feeling fabulous, right?! Don't let the scale throw you off...you will continue to be successful if you keep doin' what you are doin'. Don't give up :) (Your pep talk is over...call me if you need another one!)

Hang in there, it's just a pound. And you gotta have treats now and then :)

I think you're looking great! We are always harder on ourselves. I've decided to eat "judiciously". It means - wise, sensible, prudent, well-thought-out, well-judged, careful, thoughtful, shrewd, and astute. Sometime you have to make a well-thought-out choice to have a piece of yummy cake! (especially at certain times of the month)

I think you must have just gained a pound of muscle, from all that working out you're doing. You look great!

Ya know, Paige, I have noticed that the majoirty of our BUNKO ladies are trying to avoid the food at the tables, so I resolved after this last BUNKO night that when it is my turn I am going to put some healthy tasty treats on those tables so people can eat them. And maybe I'll even attempt at a healthy...er half time treat.

That's the spirit! If you want to be a really good friend and make me feel better, you can gain weight right along with me for the next six months!

I blame my period too. What other good purpose does it serve?

I feel your pain. I gained 3 pounds overnight Sunday. Two of them are still there.
