By Jove, I think he's got it!!

Jaren is CRAWLING. Better late than never, I suppose. Last week he went in for early intervention evaluations and qualified for therapy to help his gross motor skills (or lack thereof). Of course, the day AFTER the evaluation he pulls up on a chair, and yesterday he started to crawl. There is still lots of things they will be able to help him with, he is by no means caught up, but I am pleased to say that a little light has gone off and he has figured it out. It is amazing how far he has come in a week and a half. My parents were here for his birthday and he still wasn't good at going from belly to a sit, and he was very akward going from sitting to laying down. Just this Tuesday at his evaluation he was scooting backwards and got stuck under the desk and freaked out because he had NO idea how to get out of the situation. Then two days later he just takes off. The bad news is that I can officially no longer leave him unsupervised for more than 5 seconds. To prove my point, Jaren reached another milestone yesterday -- eating dogfood.

In other news, Jillise lost her first tooth last week. It had been loose for ages but she got up the nerve to pull it out herself and I was so proud of her! And I was proud of the tooth fairy for remembering to do her thing. She has one other loose tooth but it may be a while before it comes out.

I have applied for a job. Kind of. There is a charter school that is opening here in the fall and they need a music specialist to come in for four hours a week (that number will increase by one hour every year as they add additional grades) and teach music classes. How fun would that be??? So I threw together a resume and sent it off, but it may be a few weeks before I hear anything. I am hoping that if I get on the faculty there that I can get my kids in to the school, too. Jillise was chosen in the lottery back in April, but I took her name off of the list because there were enough things that didn't feel right. But now many of those problems have been resolved and some other issues have come up, so I am thinking that this school may be our better option in the long run. I have no problem with the current public schools and she got a GREAT teacher for next year, but I am concerned about the horrific overcrowding that will be happening in the next four years and I think that Joelle could really benefit from the charter school's more structured approach. We'll see how it all plays out.

Yay for Jaren! That's great! And what a cute picture of Jillise with her first missing tooth.

Happy child-proofing :)

HOORAY JAREN!!! You should throw a party . . . everyone can stand around with different treats - fruit, crackers, candy, dog food - and see who can entice him over. Although I'm sure the one with the "mommy" face will win out.

Way to go, Jaren! Maybe you should put the dog food out of reach before Jaren starts barking like a dog!
And kudos to the toothfairy for remembering Jillese! What a cute little tooth :)

Congrats to Jillise on the first tooth.

Jaren is so cute crawling around! And dog food never hurt anyone. I've eaten quite a bit in my time. Always in response to dares, but I'm sure it has some sort of nutritional value. I can't believe how grown up Jillise looks in that picture of her with the missing tooth. It's all going too fast. That's exciting about the school music thingie - how great would you be at that?! I still haven't blogged, but I'm thinking of doing so tonight. If my husband would be home for two seconds together, I could get something done! Aaaargh! I despise having our Bishop out of town.

Oh No, now his knees won't be so smooth and soft! ;-) Although that's exciting to see him crawl.
