I bought an exercise ball a few months ago. I used it a few times, then it got put in the garage to keep the kids from killing themselves on it and I never really brought it back out again. The instructions that came with it weren't very clear and they were on a HUGE fold out poster thing so doing the routines were just a bigger hassle than I was willing to pay.
Enter Powell's Books and my sister. Megan has a book with 101 exercises to do on the ball (or something like that) so when we went to the bookstore I wanted to look for something similar. We found a used one for $5. I tried it last night. Boy, the smiling lady in the full color pictures must be high on something. Those exercises were HARD. I tried one where you lay with the ball on the small of your back, with your knees apart and feet on the floor, like you are going to do a crunch on the ball. You put your fingertips on your temples. Then you crunch up with your upperbody while you lift one foot up off the floor. Without rolling off the ball and killing yourself. I could do about three. Total. Brian was laughing at me because the exercise doesn't LOOK hard. Then he tried it. Validation. I just did the ab/core section last night. Tonight I think I will venture into the legs/lower body chapter. Wish me luck.
Today is also my last day taking Alli. I hope. I finished up this bottle and am hoping to stick to the eating plan that it helped me to establish and still lose weight. I do NOT want to be taking the pills over the holidays, so wish me luck. This is shaping up to be a good weightloss week. If all goes well I should have only two or three pounds left to go to reach my short term goal. Then the REAL hard work begins as I attempt to lose the 10 lbs that I have had glued to me since I first got pregnant in 1999. I keep looking at pictures of me when I was first married for inspiration. I am finally in the "normal" range for weight and BMI, but I am at the VERY top of those ranges for my age, gender, and height. I hope to be well entrenched in the middle of those ranges by the end of January!! That is, if the exercise ball doesn't kill me first.

Exercise balls are hard to use! Congratulations are your awesome weight loss. Next summer I will start my 20 by Christmas, maybe somebody would be willing to join me then!
You are doing great! I've never really gotten into the exercise balls. Maybe I'll have to give them a try now:) Good luck on the lower body routine tonight!
You are doing great and you look great, have no fear! And I don't think you'll miss the Ali to much!
You are doing amazing! You don't need the Ali...you are going to ROCK on your own! I love the exercise ball...from a distance ;)
What is Ali? The ball can be tricky - but it's pretty good for isolating the abs for crunches...keep focused, you're doing great!
Way to go Paige! Sorry I haven't visited the challenge forum hardly at all. I have stayed on the bandwagon though... I am down 10 pounds since I started over on October 8. 12 to go by Christmas (because of course I gained 2 in between Sept 1 and Oct 8).
You are doing a phenomenal job!!!
the mental picture of the exercise ball "workout" is too funny. I've been a similar situation with a Pilates video workout, and Scott chuckling from the peanut gallery. I've never tried the ball but I'm sure I would be LUCKY to make it through just one of those crunches.
You're doing so awesome on your goal. I hope your success continues and continues!
Paige- You will be doing the leg workout tomorrow if you can MOVE! May you be able to stand straight in the morning is my 11:54pm prayer. xoxo Kam
you seriously crack.me.up! you look amazing and you should be so proud!!! After you master that exercise ball you might have to give me a little class! :)
