Car Shopping

Last night we bought a new...... BATTERY. UGH!!! We had the quintessential used car buying experience. It was awful. I found a car online at a dealership. GREAT price, GREAT miles, GREAT color, the perfect car. So I call, they arrange to have it brought over from the other dealership, I get a sitter, have TWO people jump my car (we had jumped it earlier in the day to see if it was the battery -- it was -- then it wouldn't start again in the evening), drive the 45 minutes into town to meet Brian, and the car they had there for us was NOT the car I had driven down to see. Wrong color, wrong miles, wrong interior. It just felt wrong. We had the newbie trying to sell us the car (he won't last a month), but the guy TRAINING him was sleazy. Trying to convince us we wanted something we didn't, showing us stuff out of the price range we had set. He had the newbie drive us to another lot to show us other cars, and while we were in the car we could hear him over the phone telling the newbie which cars would earn him the most money, which he had to get us to buy -- it was BAD. The poor newbie knew it, too. We got back to the dealership and we gave him our info and told him to call us if they found the BLUE car we had come to see. They say that info was just entered wrong in to the computer, thats why the wrong car was sent to us, but the blue car we came to see doesn't exist. It's some imaginative hybrid of what we saw online and what we drove last night.

So on they way home we bought a new battery for the van and we will continue our search. I loved DRIVING the black car last night, so I know that is what I want. And I know they are out there in our price range. And hopefully the van will keep itself together for the next few months so we can really get what we (I) want.

I sooo hate shopping for cars! Good luck, I'm sure you will find the one you want because you are patient and smart! That poor newbie, how awful to have a job like that! So, what is this mystery car you're looking for?

I really think that there is a conspiracy with the posting of cars on the internet. We had a similar experience looking for our van. (minus the slimy salesman gratefully) We went based on what we had seen online and they had nothing even close. "Somehow" it was entered in wrong--no options instead of "loaded". Of course we didn't buy that one! Good luck with the search.

Sorry you had to spend your evening with the seedy underbelly of the used car business! I did have fun learning how to jump start a car with you yesterday though!

Ugh, I feel for you! I hate car shopping. Luckily I now know the owner of a dealership in Longview and I don't have to deal with any of the annoying stuff anymore.

sleezy car salesman! I hate buying a "new" car since I am always positive I am somehow not getting the best deal. Good luck!

Well, I'm glad you got a new battery, but sorry about no new car yet. I'm sure it will happen soon, you just have to find that perfect one at the perfect price! I'm with you though, shopping for cars is just no fun at all when you are dealing with salesmen like those guys. It just makes you cringe with irritation. So hopefully tonight will go better, and it will all be over soon. Good luck! May the force be with you :)

Yes, it was a beautiful weekend at the beach. We were in Manzanita. I love the quiet little town and empty beach!

I'm glad you're a blog stalker too. Now I don't feel like such a nerd! :) Although, I still should be doing many other things!

See you in the morning! Although I am secretly hoping to wake up to snow!

Yes, yes, I've enjoyed the reading. And in such a small town, one person leads to another and another. It's fun to see people that had students in preschool years ago. I haven't been brave enough to leave anyone else comments though. I didn't want anyone to think I'm a scarey teacher stalking their kids! :)
